CHERYL & STEVEN
How did you meet and how long have you been together?
At the very first wedding Steven had been to, he was lucky enough to be sitting behind a gorgeous girl. It took him to the end of the evening to get her number and from there, the next five years were history!
What do you love most about each other?
Steven loves it when Cheryl smiles, her eyes are amazing when she is happy. More so, she even laughs at his jokes and he loves making her laugh! Cheryl loves Steven’s kind and generous nature and the fact he keeps her on her toes!
When she you know she was The One?
After only knowing Cheryl for two weeks, one day while Steven was working offshore he accidentally said ‘I love you’ on the phone to her. Embarrassed and scared she would think he was a nutcase, he covered up what he had said by blaming the bad line and quickly hanging up. However, as soon as he was off the phone he realised that what he said, he actually really meant. Tactically, he left it for another couple of months before he told her for real how he really felt, so not to scare her away!
What was the proposal plan?
Steven knew she was The One and planned the most amazing proposal. He took her back to the castle where the wedding was held on the day they first met, pretending he was meeting someone to buy a car. When they arrived, he even had his best man sending messages pretending that the seller was going to be late. To kill time, he suggested they go in and have a look at where they first met. They found the room where the wedding had been and after reminiscing, Steven got down on one knee and asked Cheryl to marry him.
Why did you choose Bejouled?
Now the fun and games began! Cheryl and Steven carefully selected Bejouled to design their wedding rings as they had heard good reports through close friends and Steven was thrilled with the excellent engagement ring Darren had created for Cheryl. Darren helped Steven hide everything from Cheryl with private consultations and he even sourced the individual diamond that Steven wanted. After the outstanding service he received with regards to the engagement ring, there was no way Steven and Cheryl were going anywhere else!
The Ring
The engagement ring was a mixture of styles from Tiffany that Cheryl had talked about in the year coming up to the proposal. Cheryl then picked her own wedding band from Darren’s vast selection. Steven could not thank Darren enough for all his help, claiming that the rings were perfect. He couldn’t ask for anything better; the quality and service were exceptional. Now, Steven continually goes back to see Darren to help him pick new items as presents and he is confident that Darren knows Cheryl’s style and what she would like.
When and where was the big day?
The big day was in the stunning Mar Hall in Bishopton in June 2013.
JAMIE & SIOBHAN
How did you meet?
Through mutual friends on a night out, our eyes met over the bar in Blue Dog and the rest is history! We quickly discovered a mutual love of red wine, Jack Daniels, tea, music and Family Guy. After a year of travelling between Glasgow and Dundee, Jamie moved to Glasgow although the culinary competitions continued as we are both keen cooks.
How long have you been together?
5 years
What do you love most about each other?
Siobhan: Jamie is the most amazing, thoughtful, hard working and caring person I have ever met. He constantly surprises me with everything from making a perfectly timed cup of tea to sending me and my friends away on amazing spa or theatre trips. James makes me smile and laugh constantly but doesn’t let me away with anything. I love his manliness!
Jamie: I have always loved that Siobhan never backs down (even when she’s wrong!) which hark back to the night we met. She is loyal to a fault and I admire that she is family-orientated. Most importantly, she is passionate about everything she gets involved with. I count myself lucky that she wanted to get involved with me!
When did you know she was the one?
Jamie: With hindsight, I was doomed from the first clichéd moment that our eyes met across a crowded bar. That was the thunderbolt. She surprised me on that first meeting and has surprised me almost every day since.
Siobhan: We always knew. Cupid struck across the bar and we never looked back!
What was the proposal plan?
As the poor mug who came up with it, the proposal couldn’t have had more pitfalls. To cut a long story short, I had a ring bought and paid for which wasn’t ready yet, I decided to propose on Valentines Day (a date Siobhan isn’t all that bothered about) with a limerick in a card and, like most grooms, I was nervous and second guessing all of my ideas. Luckily, Siobhan had genuinely no idea the proposal was on the cards and I think the shock factor saved me. However, she didn’t say ‘yes’ until I phased the question very exactly as ‘will you marry me?’. Always making sure I get things right!
Why did you choose Bejouled?
After a few disappointing experiences with franchised ring companies, we were really impressed with the personalised and bespoke service at Bejouled. Darren is passionate about what he does without any of the big sell and we knew we were getting a really amazing, unique and quality product for a good price.
What style of ring have you chosen?
As Siobhan’s engagement ring is quite an unusual shape, we opted for a curved style to compliment it without being a perfect fit so the wedding ring stands alone as a perfect ring by itself when necessary. Jamie’s ring is engraved with the date of our wedding in Roman numerals and is in black zirconium as he wanted something a bit different. Both our rings are engraved inside with our classic toast!
Where and when was the big day?
Tuesday 15th October 2013 at St Mark’s, Rutherglen followed by reception at Crutherland House, East Kilbride.
NICOLA & DAVID
How did you meet?
I started working with Nicola in the summer of 2003 during the university holidays. David worked for Securior Omega and would come into the bank every night before we closed to collect the cheques from the day. I fancied him straight away, after a few weeks my boss told him I liked him (on my day off!) and she gave him my number! I was totally mortified when I came back to work and used to run and hide through the back when David would come into my branch! Finally though, I plucked up the courage and text him and we began chatting.
How long have you been together?
I started in the bank in July 2003, we dated for a while and became an ‘official’ couple on 5th November 2003.
What do you love most about each other?
I love that David is my best friend, he makes me laugh until my sides hurt. He is gorgeous and I admire how hard he works, he works very long hours to make sure we have the best of everything. I love how I can never stay angry at him, no matter how angry I might get he can always say the one thing or give me a look and I just burst out laughing – no matter how hard I try to stay serious! He treats me like a princess and looks after me every day, I am very spoiled!
When did you know he/she was The One?
I don’t remember either of us having a light-bulb moment, I think we both just realised over time we had something special.
What was the Proposal Plan?
I had NO idea David was going to propose, no one did. It was something we had discussed but David was never keen. I began to give up hope of it ever happening as he was adamant he wouldn’t, but in 2011, after 8 years together, we had planned to go to New York (my favourite place where I had always dreamed my proposal would happen).
As David knew this was my dream, he made it quite clear again not to get my hopes up before we went as marriage was still a long way off. Little did I know, David had already bought the ring! He managed to plan the whole thing without confiding in anyone (other than my Dad). How he managed to get the ring all the way to New York without me finding out, I’ll never know. Anyway, once we were in our hotel room, David proposed – I was stunned and all I could say was ‘thank you! thank you!’
Why did you choose Bejouled?
We chose Bejouled as we were friends with Lynn, Darren’s sister-in-law, and she recommended Bejouled.
What style of ring have you chosen?
As my engagement ring is an usual shape and setting, we had to have the ring specially designed to fit around it. We have chosen a white gold band with a few diamonds and David has chosen a very simple classic ring.
Where and When was the big day?
21st June 2013 at Biggar Kirk followed by reception at Cornhill House, Biggar.
NICK & JEN
How did you meet and how long have you been together?
Nick and Jen met during their studies at Durham University, where they were both sporty scientists. After a couple of near misses, they eventually got together during their final year of studies in 2007 and have not looked back since.
What do you love most about each other?
According to Nick, Jen has made him more adventurous, more open to new things, and certainly a better dressed man. Her enthusiasm and determination in all that she does is admirable, and she makes him laugh, but most of all he loves her big, beautiful, blue eyes.
Jen affectionately knows Nick as Danger Mouse…. Needless to say he is the sensible one. She loves his kind and generous nature and the debates the pair share over a bottle of wine.
The Proposal
Nick popped the question in October 2014 during a walk around the top of the Cheddar Gorge on their way home to London from a holiday in Cornwall. He thought Jen had said yes, but had to double check through the tears. They were both so happy.
Why did you choose Bejouled?
Having met Darren from Bejouled through a mutual friend, and having seen what a good job Darren had done for them, Nick had secretly struck up a conversation with Darren a few months before to design and make a particular style of ring for Jen.
“Darren was great at advising me on what metals and cuts would be best value for money and would work in certain designs. His CAD images really helped me to visualize different options. But nothing could prepare me for how amazing the final thing looked, sparkling away in its Bejouled presentation box.” – Nick
The couple got married in May 2016 at St Paul’s Church in Little Sutton, followed by food, drink and dancing at Wrenbury Hall. The day was beautiful and exactly what the two of them had hoped for.
